Mormonism Fails the Test of Science
A sweet victory for atheists worldwide.

Interesting read. The reactions of the Church were predicted before I read that far into it, naturally. It baffles me how someone can carry that much obstructive baggage as a barrier between oneself and one's experience of reality.
One person sits in a room and basks in the direct perception of that room, another one sits in that room and unravels mental abstractions pertaining to some prophet, conceptions of beliefs, etc. etc. etc., none of which pertain to their experience and none of which having any value beyond that which they are granting it.
Who is the more spiritual person? I'll tell you who the person is that is deriving more fufillment from life and is more centered in one's experience of life as it occurs.
 Peace.

When a source makes a claim that exists within the realm of science, then it is subject to being refuted by science, which is exactly what has happened.
A source that has absolutely no methods by which it can demonstrate what actually happened, then it has no manner in which it can judge a theory that can actually be verified by testable methods, so your point obviously makes no sense.
If a group is going to tout beliefs, then it might consider keeping those beliefs solely within the realm of shit that cannot be verified, otherwise they will justly be called upon it.
 Peace.

well what if they track it further back, don't all human lineages come from one source anyways? Why focus on the Hebrews, they are just distant cousins of 'Adam and Eve' like everyone else..

Quite possibly. I'm not an archaeologist, but I would even enertain the notion that perhaps human lineages result from more than one source?
Anyways, their claim, from what I have gathered from the link, is that these Native Americans were descendants from Israel. They were instilled with the belief that they were of the Hebrew lineage. Regardless of the possibillity that all lineages originate from one source, scientists have determined that this particular lineage did not originate from the Hebrew lineage, that they would have branched apart before that.
Honestly, I think the claim that Mormonism made was only made in order to convert Native Americans, convincing them to accept a religion that did not pertain to their own cultural heritage by deceiving them into believing that it does pertain. People don't start sprouting bullshit about lost tribes for nothing.
You gotta love that side-step, though! Um, well.... uh, actually, well, you see what happened was... um, oh yeah! The um, see, the Hebrew DNA became so diluted after breeding with the natives that it sorta became undetectable! Yeah, that's it! We can ignore science and continue duping dem ignut Injuns to sending us money! Why hell, they were just going to gamble and drink it away, anyways!
 Peace.

YAY!!! Some other people can use their mind to think for themselves. WOOT! lol. Not only do they two step around the issue. They often get mad, violent, and pretty much go back to a little kid huffing and puffing and stomping their feet. YAY!!! One less religion. Next is scientology!
