Hiya folks,
I've had TMJ for a while now, it never did go away but it hurts barley at all as I've stopped stressing about it, and repeatedly opening my mouth to crack my muscles.
Anyways what I do not like is what I think TMJ has done, it seems to be liquid or fat or something, all i know is its pretty soft compared to the other side of my jaw.. it's right under my ear lope, near my neck, near the left side of my TMJ.
Its not very noticeable I guess since no one stares at me or said anything about it.But I just don't like the way it looks when I look in the mirror closeup. I'm a skinny guy and exercise alot so I don't know how to make the fat/liquid disappear.
if you guys know any ways to stop this please let me know, maybe some type of jaw exercises? i dunno maybe it'll never go away

I saw my dentist and my orthodontist and he said there isn't really anything anyone can do. Once you develop it you just have to live with it. I'm hoping they are wrong.

I just don't open my mouth wide anymore and try and not think about it. It helped alot. Those mouth-guards/night-guards are junk, they didn't do anything besides crack the bottom of my two front teeth, which I had to get fixed.
I just don't like the swollen look near my jaw, its right near the tmj but goes down a few inches and is very soft or something. Is there any way to get rid of this?
peace

This is also what I have heard/read. My mom suffers from a very extreme case of tmd, and at times she has severe pain when eating. There are days when she won't eat, just to avoid the pain. Her condition has continually gotten worse, especially in the past few years. The doctor just feeds her pain medication, which we all know just temporarily masks the underlying cause. I feel for her, and anyone else dealing with this disorder. Good luck. TMD on WebMD
