How Do You Keep "Clean" Patching Material On Hand?

I guess the title of the post says it all: How do you keep "clean" patching material on hand for working with casings? Just wondering about the practical ways experienced folks have dealt with this, ie., Tupperware in the fridge, whatever. Casings are mostly non-nutritious, so contams shouldn't be that much of an issue, right? Thanks!

I should think that after proper heat treatment, a ziplock would be in order. Tupperware would be good as well. I'd keep out of the fridge though. Mucho contaminants floating around in there. It might SEEM clean, but a fridge is a dirty place.

I keep mine in a canning jar with an airtight lid. I just make extra substrate when I'm getting ready to case. Store in a cool dark place.

just nuke it before you use it. many people don't even do that. remember your colonized substrate is pretty resistant to contams and your casing is really ow to no nuts in it and so doesn't pose a contam risk.

Thanks for your help! Your post reminds me of another thing I've been wondering about, namely, are Ziploc bags basically sterile? I know a lot of manufacturing processes have this side effect (like Al foil).

Well...I would probably spray the inside with Lysol, rub it in your hand to distribute it, and let it dry. That might be going overboard. You can also wipe the inside with alcohol. Whatever you do, keep it out of the fridge. Keep it where you keep all your other clean stuff.

if it is in a closed ziplock it won't get contaminated in the fridge. thats why poeple put syringes in ziplocks.... however tehre is no reason why you would waste space in your fridge to keep casing material cold. no nutrients means its not going to grow anythingggg
