Just stick to putting it in the freezer or fridge for 5 minutes or less.
It seems to me, if it were in any longer, the flame to the ice cold glass would be to drastic of heat change and the glass would crack...

yeah i think if it were in there to the point where it was frozen like an ice cube, then it would for sure crack,

I would say so (don't keep it in too long).
In chem lab we were always told to put beakers on paper towels after heating with a bunsen burner, instead of on the cool tabletop.
Not to mention you don't want to have to explain why you have a bubbler stuck to your lips do you?

I've seen frosted glass pipes/bubblers/bongs that are made for storing in the freezer for 15 minutes. Never used one, but a friend that did said it was fun, but ice is free

My friend made the mistake of leaving a pipe with liquid in it, in the freezer for too long, killed the whole works.

Freezer is a bad idea you want to stay away from rapid temperature changes If the Bowl is ice cold, then you put a flame to it, there is a big chance of cracking the bowl or sorrounding area. One crack will spread a long way and ruin your pipe.

Ice is free and easy... if you have access to an ice crusher or are lucky like me and have an ice cube tray that makes circular ice the same size as my bong neck with a hole in the middle it works just as well if not better

i doubt your piece would crack. well, i don't think mine would because you can drop it on the ground and it won't break. it just seems kinda pointless to me. i don't want to hit a freezing cold pipe...i'd rather filter out the harshness through water in a bongload.

I doubt you will have troubles, my favorite way to smoke is knife hits, and I keep my glass bell in the freezer moistened so it will get all ice crystally, and it has never had any trouble when heated by the hot knives.
