Movie Night
    #5410109 - 03/16/06 08:26 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I know just about everyone backs up rented dvd's, heck you paid for it, watched it, it's yours now. I've been slackin off in the movie makin dept. for about a month now. It took most of today to catch up with my movie collection. I live a boring life, movies make it better. I try to watch a movie a day.

Start with some printable DVD's

Toss DVD into printer

Out comes pretty DVD

Put DVD into case (I printed & cut the case art earlier)

I got the printer from newegg for $60 after rebate. They don't sell it anymore though. If you buy one from ebay make sure it comes with ink, or plan to spend about $50-60 for ink on top of the printer's price. I bought some generic ink once, and only once from ebay and it took me about 2 hours of messing around to get the cartridges to work. Kept saying not a compatible epson cartridge or something like that, pain in my ass that was. Maybe I'll just get my genuine epson cartridges refilled.

The movies cost me about $1.10 each to rent, as I have a BB Movie Pass. The case cost $.50, the DVD another $.50, the photo paper another $.20, and just a guess of $.45 for ink. So all for about $2.75 a movie. I've got about 120 movies and counting, about 24 new ones a month.

I haven't watched Saw 2 yet. I'm waiting to watch it until I have a chick over. Girls love scary movies, and that way when I start crying someone will be there to console me. The first Saw was pretty good, twists and turns throughout the whole movie.

Yep, I use AnyDVD/CloneDVD2 to copy, & DVD Decryptor to burn.

I should get one of these.

Burns & prints 25 DVD's per hour. I'd be hustlin DVD's from outta my trunk if I had that thing.

How is the turnaround time with Netflix? 6-7 a week huh, how many at a time do you get?

the DVD another $.50,

I would assume you're using single layered DVD's? if not, tell me where the heck you're getting double-layered discs for that price, and how many you need to buy.

My hangup about starting a project similar to yours is the fact that I need double layer discs, and also HD-DVD is coming!!

it's not bad - i get 3 at a time, usually get them, and if they are in the mail by the next day, will get 3 more within 2 days - so if i time it right, i could get 9 in total, per week - but i'm usually a bit lazy about burning them, or getting them in the mail.

I'm using single layer discs. Why do you need dual layer? I don't notice any loss of quality with compression. I suppose you have a HD tv, then it would probably be noticalbe.

Yeah, I have a fairly large HDTV.

I'm somewhat of an audiophile so in my pretentiousness I can't stand loss of quality/features.
