I'm putting together a poor man's pod, everything so far has been pretty smooth and soon hope to attempt my first grow.I went to the hydroponics store today and all they carry is 2 liter bags of hydroton. My question is how many of these 2 liter bags should I purchase to have the necessary amount? I have a 52 quart sterilite container (each bag is runnin $4)

I'd guess that a 2 inch deep layer on the bottom should do. Lemme try to calculate it if I can. Don't expect much from math and I though.
What are the measurements of the container?

My mistake it is a 58 quart. It's Approx. 12" tall x 13" wide x 23" long, I just had to measure it so could be off by an inch or two. I was plannin on my first grow with twelve pint jars using the brf and verm recipe. hope this setup will be big enough.

The PmP tek calls for 4-5 inches of hydroton or pearlite, with 3 or 4 inches of water you want to leave an inch between water line and top of hydroton so that moisture is wicked.
PmP work great!

I am guessing (yes, I said guessing because math and I are arch enemies) that 3 or 4 bags should give you a nice layer on the bottom of the whole container. It's reusable too, so you don't have to throw it away.
You can also do with it what I am doing with perlite. Put it in a clean black plastic flat that plants come in. The flimsy black containers...you know what I mean?

Cool this hygrometer is still doing just fine in nearly 100% humidity, most of them fail under thease conditions.

At any rate, how ever much you get will be effective. As long as you have some surface area in there, it's all good. Get 4 bags and I will ship you more if that's not enough......I stand by my advice
I'm only half kidding.
Are you getting a manual hygrometer with the two thermometers?

I want to get a manual hygrometer for my monotub, the whole idea of a pmp is you dont need to open it, so I like the remote sensor idea for a PmP.
