ok so in the summer it's going to be getting up to 115 F where I live. I'm wondering what I should do about cooling. I want to try to keep the grow area at an optimal temperature 74-78 F I have an empty bed room that I'm going to be dedicating to growing. I don't want to be running the AC through the whole apartment 24/7. I was thinking about running something like this evaporative cooler I don't want it to end up over cooling the room and was wondering if anyone could recommend some kind of thermostat that could control it. Or if you have any better Ideas I'd love to hear those. I'm still not sure whether I'm going to be setting up a martha or if I'm going to go with bins.

About the only reliable option you have is to install an air conditioner with thermostatic controls in the bedroom window.

A martha would be an excellent choice, as well as frozen water bottles in your perlite (should you choose that method). My room got into the high 80's/90's last summer and the bottles worked awesome. Just be sure to have a couple so you can rotate once they melt.

Upright DEAD freezers make magnificent grow chambers. They can often be had FOR FREE from appliance repair places. They can also be locked closed.

They are EASY to automate.
Piped in coolmist for Rh & FAE.
2 or 3 golf ball sized exterior Xmas light bulbs, on a timer for lighting.
12/12 off/on light cycle heats them, without anything else. Frozen gallon milk jug of ice will cool them, rotated daily.
They have a built in drain defrost hole in the bottom
Just a thought, if you have the means to acquire & move one. They are NOT THAT HARD TO FIND.

Whats to tell?
Dead upright 24 cubic ft freezer, from appliance repair place.
free..........Free..............FREE
Hole drilled in back & pvc pipe ran into it, for Rh & FAE from a cool mist. Couple lemon sized exterior Xmas bulbs - for light.
Ultrasonic hummer inside it, for really high Rh.
Couple timers & you are good to go.
It can be LOCKED, it has a drain in the bottom & air tight seals.
Lemme tell you, it is capable of putting OUT.
