I was just out in my garage and I stumbled upon 4 boxes filled wtih various jars. I found 1/2 pints, pints, countless quarts. Oh yea, and suprise suprise, I just picked up some rye today. Lets hope I have some success.

I've got a few questions. 1. How imporant is air exchange in the early parts of germination and colonization in rye pint jars. 2. Does anybody know a rye recepie I can measure in cups? I know its 110g rye to 110g water. I plan on chucking them both in the jar and pressure cooking.

Good job...I use 1 cup grain and 3/4 cup water per quart jar. Never a problem. bassplayer74

I'm not 100% sure, but i believe that air exchange isn't a big factor in the beginning and that the c02 build up actual helps it. Then once you see agressive mycellium growth you want to get the air exchange going. You should ask someone else just to be sure. I haven't read the mushroom cultivator or anything, although I have a copy reserved for me at the book store. It costs 30 bucks. I'm going to try to get someone to buy it for me for my birthday or something.

TMC is a great book, I got it for my birthday last year. Also, am using pints not quarts. It's okay i've got everything sorted out thanks. I'll post / pics if I succeed.
