Yeah, I did tell him both of those things actually, and he agrees with me and nods, and then it goes in one ear and out the other. He could care less. My fear is that if I leave on bad terms, I will never see a cent of my money. I get paid my 1st check a week from tomorrow and I'm trying to keep the peace until then. I could report him to the division of banks, and I will if things continue the way they are going right now.

Hm...that really sucks. I knew how excited you were about this job.
I have always been a brutally honest person. Most people would keep their mouths shut in a situation like this because most people have a couple of kids and bills to pay...so they can't afford to rock the boat. You have the luxury of not having to worry about that shit.
Me personally, I would go in and calmly and accurately call him on all of the shit he pulls and then say "things will change or I will quit". Be a hardass (but be polite and respectful).

Yeah, I've had a number of discussions with him telling him that his actions are making it close to impossible for me to do my job correctly. I haven't yet threatened to quit, and I'm not going to do that until I get a paycheck from him and it clears my bank, because he IS a scumbag, and he WILL try to cheat me out of money.
The last processor (who he told me moved to Puerto Rico) he tried to fuck over in the worst way. She was on vacation, he called her and said "we need to renegotiate your contract". She said ok, and that they would talk when she got back. She came back to a revised contract on her desk, he was cutting her pay in HALF. Now legally, I'm not sure why she let him get away with this, as she had a signed employment contract...I would have taken his ass to court. But my point is, I'm afraid he's going to do this to me.
The FIRST day I was there he went to my assistant, asked how she thought I was doing, she said excellent, and he informed her that he was cutting her hourly rate. She said, if you do, I walk. He backed down. Just another instance of how he will try to fuck people over at any time, without warning, and for NO REASON. She's excellent at what she does, was loyal to him and busted her ass while they had no full time processor there (before he hired me). And she has a 1 yr old daughter, and he's gonna pull that shit with her? Last pay period, she deposited her check and it BOUNCED. I mean, fuck, how am I supposed to feel good about the long term stability of this job
Thanks for all the opinions and advice, it's much appreciated

It is rather simple. If you don't like your boss you should find a new one. Perhaps joining a B paper lender is the way to go.

I'm currently at a subprime lender, we deal with mostly BC stuff, which is a large part of the problem. And it's not exactly "simple". With the housing market crashing the way it has in Boston, there's barely any mortgage jobs available right now, other than sales positions, which I am not interested in.

I'd rather stay AIDS free. Also, I doubt my boyfriend would love that idea
I've applied to a number of places, haven't heard anything back yet. I'm not going to jump ship though, unless it's something good. There's no point in leaving one bad job for another.

Well, we live in a city just south of Boston, but we're lucky and our property is on 50 acres of woods surrounded by a huge stone wall. So it feels like the country, even though it's not.
The company I work for is licensed pretty much through New England and Florida as well. It's just that the housing market cooled down so much so fast that a lot of people aren't buying homes right now. Home values aren't rising as fast as they were before either, so less people are refinancing.

You have to admit sales is the way to go if you can make it through the lean times. I work in a building with a lot of lenders here. One of those little bastards is only 23 years old and is making between 80K and 110K per month before taxes. Now with the juniors under him he is working maybe 10 hours a week dealing with the stuff his juniors can't handle.
Move to California. There are a lot of lending jobs here plus the weather is nice.

I just don't like sales. I've done it, I'm good at it, and I do it for extra income on the side, but I would not want it to be my primary job. At one of my old jobs I was doing sales on the side during the refi boom and made like $85k in 1 year...I was 20. Now things are much slower though, and with bills to pay it can be stressful being on straight commission.
