Cased my South American WBS spawn just now. Unspecified test substrate, 1:1.5 ratio. Had a few challenging moments, chaulking that up to inexperience. Glue failure on the glovebox as well. I bet my face was hilarious when my glove 'adapters' released from the wall of the GB!

I held my breath for each one and in between went outside for breath. It will be a miracle if they dont contam.
When I finished I went for a short walk because it's such a beautiful warm spring night. I looked up at the moon through some cottony clouds. Couldn't help but notice how it resembled mycellium. A haku came to mind.
Cased mycellium It is all, mycellium For Tonight you thrive

ive been reading lots of your threads(like the rhizo one also) and am abuot to begin a similar grow(it will be my first...b+ most likely(i have B+, equadorian, golden teacher, hawaiian, and some other syringes...but figure b+ will be the best bet for my first grow) using WBS and manure or horse poo and cased(havent decided if what casing mix to use, a friend suggested just vermiculite...but i may go with a verm coir mix...
anyways, just keep posting cuz im certainly picking up a lot of good info and pics from your posts.
edit* i am willing away potential contams from your casings...

It's a substrate I designed and am testing. I don't want to waste valuable space on the board with another crazy idea unless I know it works. If it works, you'll be seeing a thread about it in the 'substrate' sub forum or in this one.

It's all in the approach. For me, obtaining actual mushrooms is just a fringe benefit. It's the experiment and knowledge that's the real reward. Of course, it's always nice to succeed!

i agree with you there. another thing is that i think my spiritual endeavors off of home grown mushrooms will be even more personal...and that i will gain pleasure knowing that i helped create the very magical thing im doing.
