log base 10 of 1.08 = X
I think

Can you be more specific about what you are trying to solve?
If you are doing anything that is continuously compounded, then it has to involve e (the number, not the drug) in some way.
Otherwise, if it's discretely compounded, then you need to involve the period of time over which it's being compounded. From what you have there, I honestly can't tell what you're doing.
Usually the formula for discrete compounding looks like:
Value = Present Value (1 + interest rate/number of times compounded in period)^Number of Periods Compounded*Number of times compounded per period
You just don't have enough numbers, so I don't know what you're looking for.

alright well if you want to do the whole thing here it is... i was just making it easier and i really wanted to know how to do the log thing..
Tom Invests 100,000 at 8% compounded annually, when will he be a millionaire???
5 shrooms to you if you check my answer

It looks like dblaney already got the answer (more or less, it would be 30 years even if interest only compouns once a year), did you get something else?

Nevermind - can't read - too much smoke.
A = P ? [1 + (r/n)](nt)
Original amount = P Number of years = t Number of times per year the interest is compounded = n Amount after t years = A Annual interest rate in % = r Interest after t years = A - P
