Hygrometer Product Review. Pic
    #5400189 - 03/14/06 05:42 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Ok last night I went and bought a taylor hygrometer, that I later found out was not the right model, and the model I bought sucked so I took it back. Both wal marts that are in driving distance from me only carried that one model, so I went to Target to see what they had.

Target carries only one brand "Oregon Scientific". So I took a risk and bought it. Delinquentes last night helped me out by telling me how to test its calibration using the "salt test". I did this and my hygrometer read 74% RH. Close enough for me. ( it should read 75%)

The packaging of the product says it has a range of 0-95% rh, mine is sitting dead on 98% RH, this is in a PmP. Oregon electronics seems to have made a good product here with a cost of 29.99 for base unit and one sensor.

I give it

It was the one I was going to buy after research. I ended up with a wet bulb though and am not regretting it.

wait you said the package says it goes to 95% max and it says 98%?

I've had the worst luck with hygrometers. Most of the ones I buy die after a few days of being in the overly humid air. The one I have now is supposed to be water proof and it stays on a least, but its stuck at 98% RH. Even when I take it out of my FC it doesn't change. Fucking pieces of shit.

Nothing to get wet, and no electronics to ruin. Accurate as long as you keep the bulb wet.

minds, i have the same one except mine shows possible forecast and atmospheric pressure. Its crazy. You can also link up to 3 measuring units to it. It also shows the moon cycles if you plug in the date. lol

Of course it doesnt go down as soon as you take it out of the humid enviornment, the "probe" inside the machine has to dry out. Also people dont reccomend keeping the remote unit in that high of humidity 24/7. The humidity will go up fast so you can see what it is. I have 4 fruiting chambers 1, 2 tier greenhouse, 1 pmp, and 2 monotubs so it is constantly being switched around.
And from what I hear that hygrometer in the above post is the most accurate and durable, but on the other hand it doesnt have remote monitering you gatta decide what you want.

I love it. It was the only one they had and was on major sale so i just did it. It has yet to fail. I also love how it records the max and min temps. I can't find any seperate measure things. Have you been able to?

Ok I found the remote sensor online for 14.99 but it wont let me order one, like I said Ill call the company.

And Agar I think Im going to get one of those as well but not for my pmp, I built that so I dont have to open it, thats why I want a wireless, but that will work well for my greenhouse.
