I would assume the tempurature that the vaporizer reaches would be the only difference.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong.

I think waffle is correct, salvia d. burns at a higher tempature then marijuana. Personally, I have never heard of a salvia vaporizer. i would stick with the bong.

I have successfully vaporized salvia using a heat-gun and special bowl for a bong. It required higher temps than cannabis, enough that the leaves were browned, but not burnt completly. It worked really well actually, it is very different than vaporizing cannabis because the vapor is very very thin. You feel like you aren't getting anything and then whamo!

If you want to buy a vap, why not buy one where you can vary the temp? My friend has one that can go anywhere from 250 to 460 degrees F or something like that.

There isn't any difference between vaporizers, just a market scheme to sell more. A buddy of mine asked the same question in a head shop in Chapel Hill and said there isn't any difference. Just figure, if you leave the shit in there long enough it's gonna get the shit done!
JUST SMOKE IT!

There is definately a difference between vaporizers. Some really suck, the things that are needed for good vaporization are:
1)Forced air, you need to get that hot air passing over/through the material.
2)temperature control, if you can't narrow in on the right temp for your substance then you can't guarantee good vaporization.
There are many varieties out there that meet these requirements, and some are better than others, but if it has those two features it will work.

But, as far as Vaporizers being made for the different substances.......not available. A company in this manner doesnt make a special vaporizer for one substance or the other, one vaporizer may be better than the other but hell.....that is quality!
