I am looking to purchase a soil moisture meter to get the precise moisture % in my casings...
I got my eyes set on this one
http://store.yahoo.com/cspoutdoors/moisturemeter.html
I do not know how accurate it is tho I would like a digital one that will land me the desired 68-74% moisture level needed for casings. I dont want to spend an arm and a leg but I willing to spend a good amount of greenbacks for a good one
any suggestions???

I believe it was agar who pointed out this one for me....
Its for PH and moisture... I was interested in this one because I was going to throw hydrated lime with my casings... but in retrospective (any many good ole shroomery members inputs) I am deciding not to... In the future I may want to experiment with it but I am going to try and keep it simple with 50/50+ without hydrated lime.
I would like to know exactly how the above PH and moisture meter works... not on batteries... and I did call the company and they stated that it must be cleaned after every use with conditioning film with HB-2.. whatever that is.... I dont know..... this is the one agar said he uses so it must be good....
but I just want an accurate one for the moisture for now

With the moisture required for bulk substrates or casing material, a soil moisture tester will most likely peg out. We adjust moisture for our substrates by using 'field moisture level' which is achieved when you can pick up a handful of substrate or casing and no water flows out by gravity. However if you squeeze gently, a few drops will come out, and if you squeeze very hard, a light stream will drip out. After practicing a few times, you'll get perfect moisture content. RR
