Ventilation

So how does one properly ventilate and cool their grow room? I just picked up a blower and some ducting today. I hooked the ducting to one end of my reflector (tube reflector) and the other end to my blower. This has cooled the light down but the growroom temp is still 82 degrees. I have two fans running as well, one on the bottom blowing air around the plants, and one at the top of the closet moving the hot air out (or so i hope). I have to leave the closet door open because shutting puts the temps into the high 90's
any suggestions? Am i doing something wrong here?

Disclaimer: Konnrade has no hands-on experience. He's just brainstorming here.
It would sound like you need to exchange some air in and out of the actual enclosure.
Of course that has to be done carefully to avoid venting incriminating odor. Before overgrow went down, I read a technique of how you can hook up a blower to exhaust your air down into the sewers, where the smell will never be noticed. It looked involved, but damn what a good idea!
I bet that was for big grows, though
Maybe you need to hook up an exhaust blower that passes air through a carbon filter and out of the vicinity of the grow equipment?
Again, I have no experience here. I'm just tossing out ideas.

i appreciate your suggestion, however, i should have been a little more clear in my first post.
a.) these are seedlings, they do put off a nice smell when you get up close to them (or when i was running fluros left the door closed), but they dont smell enough to be noticed (yet).
b.) I live in a rented townhouse, i cannot modify my place unless i can unmodify it and have it look normal. I need to leave this place like i found it or i get fucked up the ass with charges
c.) Im handy with DIY projects, but plumbing is something ill never ever touch unless its something simple. I also dont believe i have access to the sewer line, or any type of pipeline, from the closet the grow is in.
Here's a pic of my current setup.

This thing is jury rigged for now, i just needed it to cool down the closet. Out of the few configurations i tried this is the one thats been most effective. It's dropped the temps from 83 to 81, but its taken a bit for it to do that. I need to go pick up a smaller flange for the blower side, right now the suction it creates is holding it nicely in place. However it has to go, i need to run this setup with the main door open and you can hear the fans and see the light when you open my door. So needless to say i cant have anyone over until i get this straightened out.

I was looking at one of those "Stupid Patents" sites (can't explain it much better). There was a device for breathing "clean" air when in a burning building by snaking a tube through your toilet reaching sewer air or something. I'll try and find a link.
Sounds plausible if my interpretation of it was correct. :-p

Where the hell you gonna find a tube long enough to stick down the toilette to breathe "clean air" from a SEWER no less. But yeah where ya gonna find a tube in a burning building?
Coda, I thought 82 degrees was optimal for MJ?

i thought 75, plus im growing a strain which comes from cooler climates.
I really dont know at this point, im at a loss for whats going wrong, im really trying to focus on getting a solid setup and then starting over. It'd be nice if these plants made it through, but with the way things are going i dont see it happening.

Heres, I think what you need to do. Im new at this as well but I think I have the basics. Make your grow chamber air tight if it isn't already. Get an inline centrifugal fan. Now I'm new to this, so I know what they are, but the names can be a little different. Its not just a booster fan, its a strong suction fan to really move air. So after you get your fan hook it up with some tubing to your chamber. Now for the smell, stick a home-made carbon filter somewhere in the tubing before the fan. After the exhaust fan is set up, make some holes somewhere in your chamber (preferably bottom, I could be wrong). So after this is all set up, you should eliminate heat problems along with odors.
Hope this helps! Like I said before, I'm new as well so things might be a little off
