One More Perlite Question
    #5399194 - 03/14/06 01:32 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Ok everyone... Im birthing one cake to a 2 liter bottle today and i am still confused on perlite...There is so many teks that say put in 1 inch and then add a 1/2 inch of water...And then there is teks that say strain the wet perlite through a collinder or something so u just have damp perlite...Anyone ever done the damp perlite way, and if so do you think it would work good in a 2 liter bottle.
Thanks...As soon as i get a response i will be birthing the cake. Thank Everyone

both ways will work for larger fruiting chambers...

I've done both ways.

as long as you don't have too much water.

if your humidity isn't high enough just take some of the water out.

Since you are using the 2 Liter bottle...

I'd strain the perlite...cause you wanna lightly spray the inside of the bottle to keep the humidity up...after fanning.

so straining the perlite would be wise...since you will be adding more water from spraying.

Or if there is too much water you can add a layer of dry perlite. It will absorb the excess water and help the transpiration process helping to regulate humidity.
