KIDS...
    #5398770 - 03/14/06 11:39 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

So my 18 year old kid drops out of tech school{out of state} in December, comes home for Christmas break, I hook him up with 2 weeks work at union rate.So how's school? "Oh, everything is fine." We drive him back to his place,{he wanted to take the bus} not a dorm room, a 2 bedroom apt he shares. Place was clean,{bathroom and kitchen sink}, no obvious signs of drugs or booze, Just school books on the table. So I ask " Ya glad to be back at school? " ...Yea, he can't wait. End of Feb. we finally get a letter from the school, he didn't register... he's out.The wife drives out to get him, bring him home...2 new ear piercing {no problem... his ears, not mine}, shit load of new games, thanks to those 2 checks. Now I just spent 200.00 to have 1 stud removed at the clinic because it got pushed inside his lobe like 2 weeks ago and healed over. Oh well, at least he's not on drugs... I wonder why I drink sometimes... :faded:

Crazy kids. What's he gonna do now?

Have him be a roofer's laborer for a month or two. He'll be dying to go back and do good in school.

I dropped out of school when I was 18 and told my parents roughly the same stuff until very close to when I was actually dropping out. He probably, like me, just didn't want to see his parents all sketched out and view him as a failure - so while he figures out what to do, he acts like life is peachy.

Just a guess.

That's no good, but I can understand that maybe college isn't for him.

Hell, I'm a nerdly fellow who enjoys education... I'll be lucky if I manage to last long enough to get my BS.

Despite trying hard last semester and all that jazz, my GPA was laughable and I'm on academic probation. I haven't even gotten to spend my scholarship yet

I can see where he's coming from. My school situation is pretty fucked up at the moment. I need to sit down and be serious about one fucking semester, and I can get this BS, but I hate the field so much now, its a chore to go to class or do fieldwork.

ugh.

Yeah, the arts degree gets a respectable abbreviation, but the science students are bullshit.

I might get my M.F.A. eventually. Then when people ask me what I went to school for, I'll just get all up in their face and yell BAMFA!

Wait untill you get into organic chemistry. Your grade will depend on memorizing things that SOUND like BS, but are totally important.

My next exam is going to be a bitch.

Lousy hydrocarbons.
