Roll up the rim, sluts

It's an exciting time in Canada when our biggest coffee chain, Tim Hortons, does it's annual Roll Up The Rim to Win contest. You can win a donut, or a coffee, or a pool table or an SUV. I think there are some cash prizes too.
The odds of winning are like 1 in 9. I never win. Not even a donut. I don't even like donuts, but if I won, I'd go get a prize donut and give it somebody...
What's the coolest thing you ever won?

I won 5 bucks once.
That's seriously the best thing I ever won.
Of course I found a $300+ pearl ring once, so I suppose I've been gifted with some good luck.
By the way. Somebody buy that ring from me, please. I'm so very poor

A p3 450 processor and a Motherboard, at an Intel convention.
See everyone writes on the slips and leave them flat or fold them once, so what i do is crumple it up and then uncrumple it, that way it floats to the top and is inviting for that guys hand to grab!!! TRickY

Good question. Tim Horton's is actually way cooler than Starbucks. It was genuinely refreshing to go through a fast-food drive-thru and have access to moderately healthy food instead of the garbage that is available in the U.S.
It just has always struck me as strange whenever one chain is EVERYWHERE. In Massachussettes for example, there are Dunkin Donuts and "24/7" stores literally on every block.

This one time Coca-Cola had this bottlecap promotion where you could win free coke. Everytime I got a coke, it would lead to another free coke. I drank coke for free for like a MONTH.
I thought I was all slick. And then the promotion ended. And I was hooked.
So who was really the 'winner'?
(Also, Tim Horton's sucks and the only edible doughnut is the Krispy Kreme doughnut. Face.)

I somehow remember that either coke or pepsi had something where you collected bottlecaps, or points, or some shit. They said that if you collected enough of them, you could trade them in for stuff. The best and most expensive item was an F-16 jet... which wasn't actually serious, because they thought it was impossible.
Some guy fucking managed to do it and tried to claim his F-16 (I admire this man for trying so hard!). Problem was that the F-16 wasn't exactly available to civilians, the soda company didn't even have one to give him. I saw that on the news... I don't know what ever happened with that. I imagine they gave him a bunch of money so he didn't sue their sorry asses.

What? But I swear, I didn't just hear about that somewhere, I distinctly remember seeing it on TV. Of course that doesn't mean it's true... but I would have figured pepsi would squelch any of that sort of thing if it was false.
*edit* upon reading the snopes article, note that it says that it is false that pepsi GAVE him the jet. Of course it's false, pepsi couldn't get a jet, uncle sam would have a anheurism. Civilians just plain do not get current military technology, ever. Demilitarizing a harrier means turning it into a lawn ornament that can't fly. The VTOL gear cannot be removed without also voiding it's ability to produce forward thrust.
(I'm an aviation buff )
It says that the court ruled in favor of pepsi, and that the pentagon made pepsi stop the whole harrier part of the promotion.

Other than that, I can't really think of anything significant. Won a bunch of spelling bees when I was in school. Went to state competition or whatever it was.

My memory has been jogged.
In 6th grade we had a thing called "school money". It was fake money that us kids tried to earn. We could invest in "stocks" and we got an allowance every week. It was the main focus of the kids all through 6th grade.
At the end of the year we had a big "auction". A bunch of stuff had been donated for the event. Whoever had the most money was allowed to pick whatever they wanted first. Whoever had the least had to pick last. The coolest thing there was a CD player, so that was the first thing taken. I had the least amount of money of anybody in my class so I got the last things that were left. My haul was a bag of potato chips and a purse. True story!

I did the same thing flag, we had to set up a business but instead of actually trying to sell a product we just scanned in the school money and printed off a bunch of copies- they were noterized with the civic teacher's initals in highlighter (as if thats hard to forge) and we recorded that we sold way more than we did.

I once got a perfect attendance award unexpectedly, for some reason they thought I was there one more day than I was. What a bunch of dummies they were.

Why the fuck didn't I think of that? The school money was just different colored paper with a bad graphic on it. It could have easily been copied. I could have had that fucking CD player!

Don't feel bad, if schools can't afford a decent lunch program they aren't gonna shell out for a top shelf cd player

Yeah, it was kind of a crappy CD player. I still would have taken it though.

I won $25 on a bingo scratch ticket once. That was pretty exciting.
That's all I can really think of, tho. I guess I'm just unlucky?.... or maybe my day just hasn't come yet.

Most of the contests I compete in have no prizes. As far as lottery goes, I have had horrible luck, the most I've won was $10 from a scratch off. I've spent more money in it than I've won, so it's not exactly cost effective for me anymore.
