"Rumours abound over the composition of this strange brew. It has been said that the organisers spice up the tea with a brand of local fungus purported to have strange psychotropic effects. Visitors are warned! What is known is that the brew contains rum (lots of it) and local fruit juices, and that it bubbles away in a cauldron across the road from the Shack itself, a ramshackle aggregate of aluminium sidings, planks, graffitied plywood and other bits of construction material."

Its this party dat's thrown every month in the British Virgin islands.... at midnight, the owner of the bar, Bomba, serves mushroom tea. The reviews are mixed about the potency and ease of acquiring mushrooms. In the BVI's its legal to possess and ingest, but not to sell.

I hit the full moon party last thursday on the 13th.. I live in Roadtown and have been to the party lots of times. The mushroom used are apparantly cubes and they claim that they find them in the wild, but i have a feeling that they grow their own. usually the island only will yield decent amount of mushrooms after several days of heavy rain. as far as the tea is concerned it is fairly weak. but keep in mind that a lot of the patrons are tourists who have never done mushrooms before. i wouldn't want to have a ton of real f'd up first-time trippers on my property all night either

I always thought the full moon festivals originated in thailand.
Well maybe they do them there too, and everyone just BYOM's to the site. They are more than common there. Tai cubs are really nice, and the full moon festival has nothing to do with a community brew. Its a fat mushroom party none the less. Then again it seems to be well ingrained in the culture, and everyone just eats fresh or dried mushrooms. Just some good info. Im not saying I dont think anyone's account illagit.....Its just far different than the full moon festivals I have read about, and they all originate from Thailand when in full form. NO brew, just a large amount of locals and tourists eating fresh mushrooms.

This is just a party thrown at a local bar once a month in tortola (british virgin islands). It's not a huge event by any means, just a reason for people to get together and get ripped and tripped. i usually do my own before going because their brew isn't very strong and it has alcohol. I'd need to drink so much for a good trip that i'd be completely plastered also (not a fan of that).

For me alcohol and mushrooms is an obvious no-no. I have never tried it, but anyone who knows both substances well, knows the effects one will have upon the other. I dont like the mix on bit, and would never bother to try it.
