Funerals/Cremations

When you die, what do you wish to happen to your body and why?
Do you wish to be buried? Would you prefer to be cremated and have your ashes scattered somewhere? If so, where abouts? Or do you have alternative plans in store for your body?
Please explain your reasons.

Cremation.
Corpses seem to be an endless source of trouble for humanity. From the fighting over where and how to bury the corpse of Milosevic to the preservation of Einstein's brain to the endless carting about of old bones dug up on archeological sites, resulting in lab tests and reburials. People just have this tendency to obsess about the past and to turn all human remains into relics. I really don't want to be part of all that. In a perfect world I would like to disappear into thin air, burning the corpse is the next best thing. Return most of my chemicals through the chimney to the biosphere, and dump my ashes somewhere in nature, where they will gracefully erode, and become part of living creatures of all kinds.

Cremation I have it wrote into my will, if someone needs some part of my tired used body, their free to take it, then burn it. My problem with funerals, is the out of this world cost, that they put on the surviving members of the family. I dont really care about the left over bones, and ashes, just bury it by some nice old tree.
dust to dust, ashes to ashes.

I want to have a midget on a tiny guitar singing "Dust in the Wind" at my funeral...and then have a DNA sample taken with a message to "clone if fonud" and be shot into space.
I'd also put in my will that all my friends have to adopt a highway, and clean it every year...hahah I can see them getting so pissed at having to do it every year in my name...hahah. I'd also say that if they ever stop, i'll haunt the hell out of them.
Oh and nobody gets any of my shit. It all has to be donated to charities. Just knowing me whille I was alive should be enough, you don't get my shit just because we was tight!!
Basically, it would all be a big joke -- but not really. I take death very lightly. I belive I am already dead.

I'll go for Cremation too... I don't want people visiting some grave where my empty corpse is buried to remember me or to talk to me. Anyone who loved me will remember me anyway, and I'd hear them just as well from anywhere else.
I would also donate any useable organs first, to whoever might need them.
I'd want my ashes scattered by those who knew me best where they think would be most appropriate.
As for the funeral...
Well, I would want to have more of a memorial than a funeral. I'd want people to remember me and laugh and have fun and reminisce... share stories of what they liked about me, and recall fond memories of time well spent.

Well spoken, man... I definitely agree with that reason as well.

I dont know guys, being burried isn't so bad as long as it was done natrually. The idea of me decomposing after death is rather comforting. I'm slowly releasing my energy back into the grid by having worms and shit eat me, and all my minerals soaking back into the ground.
*shrug*
But I still want a DNA sample sent into space with instructions to clone if found.

I think I'll have to be cremated; I dislike the whole thought of putrefication and being munched on by worms. Okay, I believe that the inner spirits departs and finds its next body at the point of death - so the body is not to be venerated - but I still dislike the idea of it being invaded!
Except I would like to be burnt on a pyre in a clearing of some forest; then be scattered amongst nature. For me it would be symbolic of being part of Mother Nature, a return into the cycle of things for both body and soul. And, perhaps, something of what I have gained in this life will be passed onto those trees, and surrounding plants.
I've thought about death a bit, and I know I want the Cruxshadows "Return" played at he ceremony to mark my passing. Also the Psychadelic Furs "Pretty in Pink" - anyone else got ideas for themselves and music?
