Got syrup?

For those tired of sediment heavy, cloudy honey LC's, or to those who can't get dextrose/light malt extract, give maple syrup a whirl. Real maple syrup, not the store bought breakfast syrup. Nothing revolutionary or new here, simply rehashing some useful info.
For a ghetto LC (No dextrose/malt) this is the best performer I've seen yet. So far, it beats Karo/Honey by a longshot. 1 CC multispore in 4% maple syrup solution after only 2 days:

I have used maple syrup before with success. I figure it would be good for wood lovers too. It is very expensive for me. I have a pretty empty bottle after pancake tuesday so I can wash out the remains.
I have another just inoculated with apple juice, glucose and a pinch of baking soda. I lost a few LCs to green mould and I think it may be the acidic apple juice so the soda should neutralise it, it will leave some salt too and I have read myc is pretty tolerant to small amounts. It turned the apple juice very dark.

20% bottled apple juice to 80% water also works.
I have even used concentrated frozen apple juice. (same ratio as above)
You end up with a light beer colored LC. But, it is a clear solution.

Hey mate, don't use that Glucose syrup - it doesnt work. I have tried the same stuff - it has preservatives in it.

virtualy anything can be used, I used to drain the water from popcorn that I had simmered into a jar and used that with great success, pancake and waffle syrup also works.

Not really - but to get a better idea of what you CAN use, just think about what grows mould on it after sitting out for a while - apple juice does very quickly, as well as coffee (often added to beef up substrate - ie, soak your grains in a coffee solution) etc etc.
But to start off - get some healthy LC's going using the tried and tested honey, maple syrup or malt/dextrose. Once you have that down pat start to experiment...
The reason I piped up is because that picture you took -
