Electrical Buzzing in my Spine?

I've noticed that when I try to meditate or go to sleep sometimes I will have an electrical current of some sort start buzzing through my spine.
Anyone have any idea as to what this might be? Possibly Chi energy?

Is it an even tingle, or does it rise up or roll down your spine? Is the sensation affected by your breath?

Feels like it starts from the base of the spine. Not so much effected by breathing, the deeper I sleep the more frequent it happends.

sounds like kundalini.

I looked up kundalini. sounds about right. ive never been able to succesfully meditate however. Lots of hypnogogic imagery though, is that the same thing?
