Wispy Gray Stuff Inside Psilocybe

So I'm not sure that this is really a contamination issue but I wasn't sure where else to post my question. Anyway, the last time I had psilocybe mushrooms was a few months ago and it was actually just one mushroom that comprised the entire eigth. I figured the only fair way to share it with my girlfriend was to dissect it. So I got a razor blade and cut it down the middle. When I separated the two halves though, I noticed there was a little bit of wispy gray stuff in the inside of the stem. What exactly might that have been?
I was surprised at how long it took for the effects to come on. I didn't really feel much of anything until about 3 hours into it. That could have been because I had had some other ones a week or two prior though.
One more thing - I've heard from different sources that either the caps or the stems are more potent. Which part is more potent? Or does it just vary?

I don't know about the inside of the stem but shroom tolerance should be gone in over a week. The caps are only about 10% more potent than the stems, if that.

So what you're saying is that, as long as it's been over a week, prior usage shouldn't affect the experience, right? That's what I figured.
It could have just taken a while because I only had 1/2 a cap. Normally that same weight would've probably had at least 3 or 4. This was a big sucker though.

http;//www.thenook.org/archives/1389.html check out this website for different types of contaminates. Scroll down until you see contams then click on it. Caps and stems are the same in potentcy but by equal weight of the two the caps are more potent. If you eat mushrooms everyday they won't do nothing. But if it was a week or two the last time you ate them befor that is plenty of time between doses. The most you can eat them and still have the full effect is once a week.I'm not sure exactly why but i guess you build up a toleranse for them quickly. I hope this help you in your mushroom quest

According to the PF tek, the smaller mushrooms and the aborts contain more psylocybin/psylocin for their weight than do the large stately fruits.
