Clear Mylar Window for a Mushroom Chamber

I am not sure if this is "advanced" but I am willing to bet most of you here have not seen this mateial, so I am posting it here.
Until a few days ago, the only material I knew for a chamber window that was cheap and workable (plexi and glass are neither in my book) was clear vinyl furniture cover like one can get at Wal-mart. That stuff works pretty well, but it's not as clear as this something new I found called clear mylar. Many of you may know mylar from its mirror finish version that is used in green houses and the like. This type is clear and can be found at some plastic stores! I like it because it's very cheap at a few dollars a foot per 48" roll, is easy to cut with scissors, is very light weight, and is super clear. On the down side, it does scratch very easily (even more so than vinyl), so you have to be careful while cleaning it but the clarity is... well WOW! It's a ton clearer and less distorting than vinyl.
Here is a chamber, not being used right now obviously, with a window made out of clear mylar. The widow was first just a square piece of mylar glued in place with a dabs of glue all around, then cut to size using scissors, and finally taped over with duct tape for air/water sealing. I do recommend the hot glue step because duct tape can, over time, lose its grip on stuff like this.

I have not seen that stuff, Jaeger. Could you point me to what you are talking about? I would love to see it to compare.
This 5 mil mylar was being sold at $2.50 per foot for a 4' roll. You could get 2 mil for I think $1.50 a foot per 4' roll. I needed about 2 feet here to cover it. At any rate, it sure beat 1/8" plexiglass which would be $25 for a piece to cover this!

It's more than $2.50 a square foot. Try more like $3 a square foot and then they won't cut it for you and you have to pay for the sizes they sell, which are never the right size. This would have taken 8 square feet to replace the entire lid with a piece of plexi. I wasn't about ready to just glue some plexi in the lid. If I were going plexi, I'd replace the entire lid with a single piece. It would have been about $25 for 1/8th inch thick. I know because I called around for quotes.

I paid $4 for this window and could have paid about $2.50 if I had gone with the thinner mylar. I'd rather have a meal out than pay $25+ for some piece of plastic I don't need. My lid was about 22" by 43" to replace the whole lid with plexi. A plastic store wanted $25 for a piece that size in 1/8th inch. Home Depot sold the plastic cheaper, but they wouldn't cut it to size and wanted to sell me a huge piece rather than just what I needed. Plus you spend about 30 minutes trying to find someone who speaks English to help you at Home Depot. It's a typical Wal-mart-like-white-trash mentality they got in there. I hate shoping there unless I know exactly what I need and can bolt in and out.

I bought it at Tap Plastics. Here is their website (but you can't buy it by the foot on the web site):

I am betting that some hydroponic stores might have it too, but that is the first time I saw it.
