Thanks to everyone, and a question about food dehydrators.

Well, I have everything I need now to do the pf tek method. There have been many of you that have helped me. I can't wait!

Anyhoo, I know that a food dehydrator with a heating element is BAD. So I opened mine up today, and simply removed the heating element.

I took some regular store bought mushrooms and cut them varying widths so I can test which do the best.

I am a chef, so I am pretty good with knife skills.

In your experience, what is typically the most efficient cut? 1/8th of an inch, 1/16th, 1/4th? Or does it even matter?

Also, using a food dehydrator, how long should I generally leave them in there? I am practicing on store bought mushrooms with different sizes...

Do I want them just crisp but flexible, or completely crisp with no flexibility?

Thanks for any help!

Who ever told you that you that using a food dehydrator with a heating element in it is BAD...is full of shit!~
There will be no potency loss noticible from using one with the heating element working.
In fact they dry out the shrooms much faster that way.

I have always used one...
this one.

Cracker dry is what you want.

Agar, I have read some of your posts.... I would rate you as high as possible but I do not yet have enough posts to my status. When I hit it, you have my thanks in the form of rating shrooms :-)

Thanks!
