Humidity Question
    #5392496 - 03/12/06 04:39 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I have some casings and know that the humidity should be between 80 and 90 percent. Should i use perlite in my rubbermaid or should I just mist the sides. The casings are in alluminium foil pans. Some one please help me out and tell me the best way to keep the humidity right for casings without hooking up any humidifiers.

Definitely use the moistened perlite this will help tremendously in stabilizing your RH in the FC. You will also want to mist as suggested in my pinning strategy. 85% should be as low as you will want to go with casings IME this makes for a much healthier casing. GL and Welcome

I have used perlite with cakes before. The humidity with perlite is usually 95 to 100 percent. What do i have to do differnt to drop it to the correct 85

Casings can have up 92% RH and still be very healthy. High RH (95%-98%) is required during pinning for optimum results. As far as lowering RH fan more often or rig up an air stone under the perlite on a timer to introduce you FAE's a little tweaking will be necessary to find your sweet spot (85-92%).

Word at 92% you will want plenty of FAE's as well. They compliment each other beautifully!
