I love these guys and I listen to almost all jazz, but here it goes
Are You Shpongled? is really freakin great, its the first one I bought, and I love it. There is a song on there that tells you when to smoke the dmt pipe, and the song from then works with the trip(the come up and comedown).
I do prefer their other album "Tales Of The Inexpressible", but think they are both incredible. It has a bit of a more natural feel with a few real intruments. Most of the songs are shorter. Both albums are really awsome when tripping, and the songs are almost written as if they had been graphed so that it makes sound that you can see and truely feel.
To my knowledge those are the only albums they have that are not remixes.

That sucks, atleast they have samples of the songs. I dont know, I was lucky enough to find all their CDs at a local store. You would be surprized how populare they are. Like I said, if you have one around, check Tower Records.

Hallucinogen is Simon Posford, 1/2 of Shpongle with Raja Ram. As well as other projects: Mystery of the Yeti, Mystery of the 13 Crystal Skulls, Infinity Project.
For that and other great psy I suggest: http://www.psyshop.co.uk/ & http://www.trance-shop.com/ & sometimes a bit cheaper http://www.saikosounds.com/english/default.asp

WHen I first came here to Shroomery, everyone was raving and ranting about how great shpongle was, so I went into the local music store (they have the poorest selection of music this side of Australian Idol) and asked if he had it. He said no but he could order it in for me. He ordered it from some place in Europe and he said it would take 2 - 3 weeks to get here. It ended up taking just a bit more than 3 months and I was so pissed. I just went out on a limb and bought them all. My favourite is Are you Shpongled? I don't like the other ones any less, AYS? is just the one that comes to mind. Nothing Lasts... But Nothing is Lost has 20 or so songs on it, but I rad somewhere that they originally intended it to be 1 whole long song, but they broke it up, and they ended up just being 20 really short songs (a minute or so) which sucks because my mp3 player has tiny little gaps between the songs, kind of rips you back to reality They are totally insanely awesome cd's... I haven't got the chance to properly listen to them while tripping yet, but even so they are now my favourite band. NL...BNIL is a lot more electronic/circuitry but still really good. AYS? and TOTI are ery smooth, my favourite all time Shpongle songs are Divine Moments of Truth, Shpongle Falls ( AYS?) and Around the World in a Tea Daze (TOTI)
I can't really recommend one... just buy them all. It cost me $200ish AU for all three... but worth every cent!
Sorry for the drivel

Ya they are both very sweet albums.
I was just commenting on buying them, not because the quality is better, but because its true to form. Your paying for something you enjoy, the way it should be enjoyed. PAy for it, is all.
Bit torrent CAN provide as good of quality. I just think its funny when especially jazz music lovers and fusion lovers burn all their CD's even from their friends. As a musician, I know for SURE, that the quality is shit compared to the original. You can argue with that all you want. But some things are too loud some things are too quite. Thats the down side of stealing music, beyond the ethical viewpoint.

I bought them all from http://www.audiolunchbox.com
This site sells the Shpongle albums encoded in Ogg Vorbis format at quality 6, without any of the Digital Rights Management shit in them that other sites like iTunes and Napster has.
I find it hard to decide between "Are You Shpongled?" and "Nothing Lasts... But Nothing Is Lost". The former usually induces a strange feeling of dreamy nostalgia, especially the first three tracks and seems to be a more pronounced and defined experience whilst the latter feels very alien-like and offers a sense of an idealistic future, something very unique, if that makes any sense. "Tales Of The Inexpressable" is what I would listen to with a group of trippers. It inspires a feeling of freedom and well-being amongst community, almost like a tribal party feeling, but I don't like to listen to it alone as I do with the other two.
I don't know though... That's probably just my interpretation. I guess others will vary.

The woofer in my room loves it too
