Tumorous growth on PB cakes

I remember some time ago auto59009 posted about seeing what looked like sclerotia forming on his Koh Samui casing. It turned out to be just the mycelium forming "balls" of stem tissue on the surface rather than actual fruits. Now I'm growing the Pink Buffalo (not all that different hell they came from the same island) and seeing the same thing. They look like tumors growing from the cakes sides.

These first started out as just hyphal knots then just got bigger and bigger rather than forming pins. Anyone every seen this before, or have an explanation.

The spores were received from Little Shop and are growing on whole grain rye.

Thats kinda what mine looks like, only no actual normal pins just fucked up tissue mounds that protrude from the cake. Maybe the moisture is too high, maybe its just a fuck up from the thai's. I dunno. If I can get my digi cam to work I'll try and post a few pics of it. Its odd indeed.
