The only good reads on Eugenics are against it.
Genetic diversity in the broadest possible sense is crucial for species survival.

War Against the Weak by Edwin Black In the Name of Eugenics by Daniel Kevles
Both good overviews of the whole American movement, but Kelves is a little better written. The problem you run into when reading about a subject like this is that authors tend to lean one way or the other, not that thats a bad thing, but I enjoy an objective point of view to make my own conclusions from.
so if you read these books, do so with a little bit of criticism.

Well said. From an evolutionary standpoint, humanity's survival depends on genetic diversity. Eugenics is senseless. I would think that it weakens our kind.

but by removing all natural selection on our kind we allow weak genes to propogate, I would think that that weakens our kind. I'm not for killing people based on their genetics, I'm for letting nature take it's course with less medical and social interference from us.
