Help me build a new computer

My old computer's cpu fan, vid card and possible the cpu have crapped out on me. I'm gonna replace them for now, but I'd like to build myself a new computer that can handle all the newer games etc...
I'm not trying to really go above $800 with Mobo, cpu with fan and heatsink, 150 gig hdd, ram, vid card, sound card, dvd-r and case (not including monitor, keyboard, mouse.

Unless you are doing audio work, I don't think you really need a sound card. Just get a mobo with onboard sound, as I've found that it's just as good (and even better) than cheaper sound cards. Sounds just fine to me. A Geforce 6 series handles WoW and CS fine for me on the highest settings (I have the 6800 GS).

Even better. So i'm still looking for everything else minus the sound card. Any suggestions?

Do you plan on overclocking?
If you do get this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231021
If not, then just buy a 2gb Value set. Might save you $30, but tht G. Skil HZ is very nice. No point in buying a new system without going 2gb, newer games are becomming more and more ram hogs and 2gb really helps with smoothness and load times.
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103539 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103537
mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152 does not have on-board sound (built spefically for overclocking, very fast and stable board)
case http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...ory=398&Ntk=all look through their cases and pick one that you like that has at least 1 side fan and 1 rear fan ($50-$75)
HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144181
Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102686 Easily the best card for the price right now(because the GTO2 version can easily be flashed to run the same as an X850 PE, which is a much better, more expensive card)
sound card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102002
On-board sound isn't the greatest, and it doesn't support EAX. Even something like this cheap Audigy will sound better, plus it will give you a tiny bit more performance in games because you won't be using your cpu to drive the sound.
dvd burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827152058
power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104935
Especially with new systems it's not a good idea to use the cheap psu that comes with alot of cases. This one is about the best one you will get without going over $80
ram - $174 cpu - $212 mobo - $122 case - $75 HDD - $72 video card - $152 sound card -$35 dvd burner - $38 psu - $57 = $937
Bit over your limit, so if you dropped the cpu down to a 3000+ and just overclock it to 3700+ speeds or higher easily. And that will bring your total down too $871 and maybe a bit less if you find a cheaper case closer to $50. This system would last you a long time and would perform great in all the new games.

If you wan't to save more money and arn't too worried about using on-board sound and the full spectrum of overclocking features just buy this motherboard and use oboard sound. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157081
It's a decen't board and you can still overclock(won't get as far or have all the feature some people like, but it will still work) and will save about $90

and
Antec TruePower 2.0 TP2-550 EPS12V ATX12V 550W Power Supply - Retail
would be better options for him, if he is willing to spend a bit more money.....
btw if you go with the cheaper Asrock motherboard, you will need a 20 pin PSU, or 24 to 20 pin adapter, if they make them
