A question on humidity

Everyone on here says that for casings, "80% is where you want them," when asked about relative humidity. The Mushroom Cultivator says 85-92% rh for cropping of p. cub and pan cyans. What gives?

80% for casings. 100%ish for cakes. caskes have no protective layer to hold moisture in think if you had no skin. casings have that protective layer. the RH might only be 80% but the micro climate at the very very surface where the pins form is a far higher humidity. lits like why often people have pins forming on the part of a poo casing that srinks away from the pan. beucase down there there is higher humidity with the pan being close to the substrate helping less moisture evaporate. ie better micro climate. long story short. case at 80%

85-92% works fantastic for casings always has always will, everyone that says 80% is full of it (not you skeletor ) and should not be giving out info period. Cakes on the otherhand should be higher but no way 100%ish thats not what we want 95-98% works awesome with a casing (rolling in verm) you can go even less (92%). I do agree 80% will cause excess casing shrinkage.
-------------------- Getting the most out of your casings!, A pinning strategy. Oyster Shell "Flour" $2 for 1lb. a hell of a deal Not what is overlay but rather what overlay is Gas Exchange vs. FAE "We all have priorities. I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"
