Sterility Question

OK, this is what i plan to do.. Once I have both of my jars fully colonized, I plan on putting both the cakes in a small rubbermaid and breaking them apart on the bottom. My question is when i brake them apart, am I exposing them to infection?

why break them? are you going to case them? i would think that it would make the mycelium network weaker if you broke them without casing them. i am no expert though..i just got my first 30 jars colonzized with no contams and they are starting to pin now..so im a newbie too ...

I'm limited on space, and I thought that if I break them apart in the tupperware then I'll have more humidity and a larger growing surface.

then u might want to check into casing them for more humdity..what are you using for humidity?
