Hey, it's (still) not as bad as WW2 or Chechnya! Now THAT is reassuring.

Heh, I'd rather serve 4 years in Iraq on the front lines than 2 years in any part of the Russian military. Thank God my folks got me the fuck out of Russia. This place rules, period.

The russian troops casualties are never disclosed by the Kremlin. Other agencies usually come up with estimates which are always higher than what Kremlin says.

Does anybody have any rough guestimates of how many people Saddam was killing on an average day shortly prior to the invasion of Iraq.
Something more substantial than the WMD "evidence" would be nice, but ... Military Intelligence is an oxymoron after all.

someone define civilian for me. In a land where the people are dressing like commoners and running around lobbing explosives and munitions at each other any of these civilians could very well be soldiers incognito, excepting of course the kids and women. And possibly some of them.

you can't continue to take the short term view of this thing. When the dust settles things will be better for them, its a necessary evil. Revolution is almost always a violent affair, should revolution never take place because of it?

btw, you prefer evolution?
what the fuck does that mean?
How does evolutiojn insure ioppressed and battered people will have a safer home?
It seems to me evolution would work in the opposite of that as, the oprressors could take women and use them as flesh farms breeding more and more children with oppressive an abusive genes in them.
Where as evolutionarily it ould make sense that it would be better for the opressed to stand up and fight thus proliferating their genes, genes of strength, courage and determination. Also they could impart ot their offsrping the horrors of tyranny, creating a generation of sympathetics.
