Polyfill Monotub in Small Cabinet?

hi all, I have a question that I am hoping to get answered. this is my first grow and I would like to know if enough a monotub whose dimensions are 15x12x12 with perlite for humidity and holes stuffed with polyfill for FAE would maintain a suitable fruiting chanber in a small cabinet with the back pryed open maybe half a foot?

Should be fine.
Make there are enough polyfill holes for good FAE in the monotub as well.

You need at least some air flow in the room where you have your monotub. I have ceiling fans going 24/7 in my mono/double tub rooms. For smaller tubs, the double tub setup works better then the mono tub setup.
This is my recent 12qt double tub:

Edit: I had to change the wording of that a little. It sounded like you needed a fan INSIDE the tub instead of around it. Sorry for the confusion

I tried a small double tub with perlite humidification and polyfil stuffed holes for FAE. (I had a few trays needing to be fruited but was going to be away a few days)
It didn't work so well. I couldn't get it to keep the kind of humidity I wanted. I would remove the polyfil from one of the holes and mist the inside walls of it once or twice a day, This fixed my humidity problem.
I still find Tubs work a lot better if you fill the entire bottom with substrate and case, no need for perlite.

I never used perlite in a DT. No need for it. For a true DT setup, you just let the substrate colonize, case and don't mist or fan again until harvest. The setup controls it's own environment perfectly.

i have limited rowing space so is it absolutely necessary for a fan in my terarrium? also would it make a much difference with the back on the small cabinet compared to all the way off?

i will be using cakes instead of casings due to the fact this is my first grow. i h0ad already planned on fanning and misting 2-3 times a day

No, I don't use a fan at all IN my terrarium. I was saying that I have a ceiling fan in the room I grow in, so that there is some air flow AROUND the terrarium. As long as the room has some kind of wind current, such as an A/C or small fan, it should be plenty enough air. If the air is completely still, it won't work well.

The fan doesn't have to be inside the tub. Just a fan to circulate the air around the box, from the outside. If you have a small desk fan or something you might be able to fit it inside the cabinet. If this cabinet is going to pretty much a closed space you will want some kind of fan to pull some fresh air into the cabinet.
If the fan is too strong or runs to long it may dry out the tub, so watch your conditions and make adjustments once your set up.
It's hard to understand what set up exactly your talking about. Because we don't really know what this cabinet looks like.
I have my set up in my closet and leave the doors open most of the time for more air exchange, and I have a fluorescent light inside for lighting. This way if I need to I can simply shut my closet door and no person is the wiser.

I wouldn't use polyfil at all if you're doing cakes. Dunk the cakes after birth, use perlite for humidity and fan them at least 5 times a day, no need to mist them IMO.

BTW, monotubs and double tubs are traditionally used for casings, not cakes. You just need a simple fruting chamber to hold humidity inside. Cakes need near 100% humidity constantly. Polyfil may effect that.

this is correct, there needs to be some sort of airflow.
for my monos i usually just put them on a shelf, thats enuf, but inside a locked cabinet - well id have to guess it would be too little.
however you could mount a fan, that could work out. peace ohm

well it is like a tv stand with a cabinet under it. i do have a ceiling fan in my room which is where the cabinet will be. so what your saying is i would have to leave the fan on 24/7 and take the cheap wood of the back of the cabinet?

No, what I'm saying now that you mentioned you are growing cakes and not casings is that you shouldn't be using a mono tub setup. Yes, mono as in one tub, but not technically a mono tub, which uses polyfil. No polyfil. Use perlite or geolite or something for humidity. Fan by hand many times a day and READ! If you want automation, go with a Poor Mans Pod.
You have your terminology and teks all screwed up.

They aren't very loud. I would lay a little towel underneath it so it doesn't vibrate.

Try this: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rue#Post5358966
Instead of attempting casings like that, just add a little wet vrem around the bottom/top of the cakes, and mist the top of the inverted box one or two times a day.It seems to get enough FAE as long as you keep on removing the lid for misting. I guess you could put polfilled holes but it is not necessary, unless you will be leaving it unattended for more than a day.
