Lots of questions...

I am very new to cultivating mushrooms, and I have a bunhc of questions.
1. this is my first grow and I seem to have a few mutants (or atleast malformed) mushrooms. What causes this and are they still safe to eat? Should I pick them now and spare the nutes for the others or could I let them grow?
2. Can I case a cake (1 pint popcorn) after the first flush (currently happening)?
3. How do people feel about "Z strain"? Are they very easy to cultivate or could I have started with something easier?
Any other help/advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

1. Mutants can be caused by a myriad of things, so long as they aren't rotting, or contaminated, they are fine to eat.
2. I cannot answer this question but I would wager that since you have had a flush and pinsets for subsequent flushes are related to your first I would doubt it would be wise, the mycelium would be beaten up pretty bad, but I imagine would recover, but who knows it might not. Without experience I cannot really answer your question well.
3. Z strain is a cubensis, and as people are gonna tell you a cubes a cube. But from Spores101 site, and other reads I have done on various sub strains. I have read that Z is very Rhizo in its mycelium (a good thing) and is resistant to contams (another good thing) so I would wager you chose well.
Hope I was of any kind of assistance, Darken *smiles*

I'm a gal hun, but I don't mind it when people assume otherwise it happens to just be an internet thing where people make that assumption lol.
The scavenger hunt is a great way to familiarize yourself with the site and its wealth of information. I withdrew, I had a very deep and spiritual trip I am still learning from and didn't have the time to participate.
Should you have any questions, ask them in a nice way (akin to your first post) be patient and listen. And you will be surprised at how amazing this community is.

Casing a cake after it is done flushing? that would induce more growth and fruiting?? i thought a casing layer was a non-nute layer, how would a spent cake get its nutes to fruit?
