I think of my hobbies, this is the cheapest by far actually. There isn't much to buy unless you make it so. I never bought or used a flow hood or glove box, though, so my expenses were mostly the pressure cooker which you can pick up a 22-quart mirro for about $70 online. On the other hand, I have seen some folks bent on making it really expensive. I know folks online who laid down at least $3000 on their setup. They just jumped for every gadget they could find and paid full retail. Heck if I had paid full retail for my stir plate, I'd be spending $300 for that rather than $35. I guess it can be really expensive if you aren't thrifty. Still compared to most hobbies out there, this one is cheap. Hobbies like hang gliding, boats, reef tanks, remote control cars or planes, regular cars, regular boats, etc. are all a lot more.

I've probably invested about $1,000.00 between my PC, shredder, tubs, verm, etc.. I've more than recovered this amount with the joy I receive in this hobby though. I love cultivating!
Agar, I absolutely love Discuss fish. I used to have a 75 gallon aquarium with 2 Discuss fish but had to give them away.

Yeah, that's a GORGEOUS discus there, agar. I have a full-blown 120G reef tank with everything. That hobby has cost me ungodly amounts of money. I have spent at least $20,000 in that hobby over the years (probably more really). But I do have one hell of a tank today. It's the kind of tank that has every color in the rainbow and every surface is alive with living coral. Almost every time I get a delivery via UPS or FedEx if the guy or gal sees the tank in the door, their jaw drops and they ask me to come to look at it. It's funny I met my neighbor lady, an old, kind woman, uninvited in my place staring at the tank. I guess she was so emotionally taken by it that she sort of wandered in.
