What is the Prefferred LC method?

I'm using this tek (it's about half way down the page): http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rue#Post4924663 Which calls for one tbsp each of light dry malt + dextrose per quart water. I filter it through coffee filters, but my concern is that after I PC it, it is merky again. I am pc'ing for an hour, which is just to be safe, is that what is causing the merkiness? Or should I be straining it again?

Don't, I say again Don't PC 1 hour. That will positively caramelize sugars, in the solution.
If you utterly have to have a crystal clear LC solution. PC, 20 minutes MAX, allow to cool over-night with NO agitation.
If the solution contains sediments, or is not clear enough, for you.
Carefully decant the upper 80% of the solution, leaving sediments behind.
Then, strain through double coffee filters. Then, in a clean jar, re-PC again 20 minutes MAX.
Results should be as clear as you can get.

On a related note, my perfectly clear Karo LC has stalled and my sediment laden honey baby bottles are kicking ass. I have no idea why this is relevant, just thought I would share.

Thanks Delinquentes, that was going to be my next question. So merky solution is not neccesarily bad...

Im just after doing my first apple juice LC ... i normally do malt and dextrose but it does leave alot of sediment so tried the apple juice one ... Blackout told me the recipe so all credit goes to him
900ml water 100ml apple juice (fruice) 29g glucose this gives 4% sugar content and is crystal clear
And heres one with the myc starting on the left(pan florida copes) and one on the right with a contam (contam in the syringe not the tek)

You PC for 20 mins and thats it! you can coffie filter it if you want but theres so little sediment and its so clear that you get away with not doing it
