Help Needed PLEASE!
    #538741 - 02/02/02 06:37 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I had to neglect my casings for a couple of days and when I returned, there before me sat a beautiful looking first flush. Closer inspection showed that the myc. on the casing had turned a deep blue/purple color. This is my first cultivating experience and I'm quite excited and I also want to be certain that everything is safe before I start munchin. The shrooms look very healthy and smell OK..so i assume that the bluing is normal...just need reinforcement. Also, some of the larger mushies have begun to turn black. I know that this is a sign of rotting, but is there a point where these are still edible? I appologize if the subject is elementary. Its seems better to hear it straight from u guys and I thank you all for your guidance....

you're good to go, but your caseings need higher humidity, they're thirsty. umm, about the half-rotted shrooms....i'd eat them, but others wouldn't.....

Unless the black ones are gooy, they are not rotting, yet. Just covered with spores that floated onto them. Plenty good to eat.
