A few questions regarding my setup

So i'm getting around to starting a new grow, but I want to clear up a few things before I get started. I'm having some contam problems with my colonizing poo. How deep of a substrate would you guys go with containers (tubs) thats are about 20"x13"x12"?
Will foil be enough to block out all the light? Last time i used garbage bags and I think that may have caused some problems.
How should I be spawning to poo from colonized WBS? Is it important for this step to be done in a sterile environment? A glove box is out of the question, but would a clean room suffice?
Thanks for the advice!

1) depends how much spawn you have. 2)foil pans work great 3)still air environment. bathroom sprayed down with disinfectant works good.

I have plenty of spawn
I'm not using foil pans, I've heard those degrade over time... I have rubbermade type bins that I'm going to line with foil on the sides and on top. Will that be enough to block out any indirect light?

Of course. Foil is opaque and reflective, which means absolutely no light will ever penetrate.

Is a bathroom a better choice than say a bedroom? I've always heard of people using bathrooms, but mine is pretty nasty thanks to the roomies

You want a small room that has no carpet. So that pretty much leaves a bathroom for most people. If you can take everything out and closing any shower curtain/door. Spray the shit out of it with lysol/oust/bleach water, and wipe everything down. Close any vents and try not to make quick movements. Wear clean clothes and a mask/hat. After you do all that a few dozen times you'll make a glovebox.

is the pan 13 inches high or 12 inches high???
personally i have always loved the tin foil pans. although they do get expensive replacing so many of them but they are good for a few runs and are easy to bend which helps me with humidity since i'm using a PMP.
i have always liked the 5"-8" substrate depth. you should have some mushie at least 7 inches in a depth that size. with burma i easily got 14" from a 3" substrate depth.

I have a monotub setup, so it would seem like pans would not really work. I also have a glovebox, but transfering to a rubbermade tub wouldn't fit. 13"wide x 20"long x 12" high. I've been going for about 2 1/2" of depth, wouldn't 5-8" be too deep? I don't really want a 14" fruit since I only have about 10" from substrate to the lid. Do you guys just use trays and a coolmist or what?

so do some 2 1/2" or 3" casings. if that is what suits you then go smaller. everyone has a different method of doing things, but they all have the same principle.
I use this method, PMP Modified
