Some questions regarding maoi's

I'm getting off my pharms, i'm tired of them and need something more desirable. i'm a diagnosed bi-polar, but i believe it is due mainly to the medication i'm on - remeron - which has its comers aggressive and down, then manic and crazy. i've read many reports about it, yet there isn't much info on the drug in the US, so docs don't know much about it and i feel as though i've read more first hand accounts than they, and also i'm witness to it's effects as i've been on it for 3 years.
anyway, about 3 1/2 years ago i tried out yohimbe and took it daily. i liked the kick i got from it, i felt a lot better than when on nothing, and it increased my sex drive - which was good because i was just getting together with my gf who i'm still with today. i never read much about what shouldn't be eaten when on it, i know there are plenty of contradictions with the drug and it can be quite dangerous when combined with other things. but i knew yohimbe wasn't a powerful maoi, so i didn't do much to protect myself and nothing bad ever happened. sex drive was good, felt up, and mushrooms were more enhanced
this time around, when i'm off everything (remeron, depakote, valium), i want to try out st. john's wart because i know it is used primarily for depression as it is a more potent maoi. i'm going to do a lot of research into it, but i'm just wondering if anyone has any subjective offerings for me - what i should expect to feel in comparison to being on nothing. are there many restrictions as to what foods cannot be consumed, or is that greatly overstated? i've used kava in the past and it was ok, i'm not looking to get into that - i've also read it will cause liver damage with excess use.
does anyone use st. johns or any other maoi exclusively or in combination with another herb for depression and anxiety?

I was on remeron for like five years and even though that wasn't an MAOI, it still reacted with other drugs like a motherfucker. I would take one puff of a joint and would be totally fucked up for seven hours straight. Thank god, I didn't start doing psyuchadellics until i was off of that drug, because I probably would have been a bad mix.
But that doesn't go for all anti-depressants, there are some that are MAOIs that still react less with other drugs than ones that aren't MAOIs do. Whatever you do, do it in moderationa nd be careful. Sorry I don't have much more information to offer, but my knowlledge of specific anti-depressants is pretty limited.

well i'm not really looking to replace remeron with a prescription maoi, i'm looking at my options once off the remeron. if you take an maoi while on remeron, most likely you'll die. this i know, and i also know what you're talking about with pot, two hits and i'm out while others are still toking to get a buzz. although it is interesting, remeron messes with the 5htp-2 receptor which is where psychedelics bind to, so mushrooms and acid, things like that are hardly felt. this is just one more reason i want to get off the drug.
i would never go on a prescription maoi, though st. johns wart or yohimbe in combination with natural mood stabilizers and herbs for anxiety - this is what i'm interested in.
