quick help on cacti please
    #5382491 - 03/09/06 06:24 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

My roomates have a cactus (several) i dont think theyre anything specail, just decoratives from wallmart. Well, one of them is dying. Its loosing all color twards its base and falling over. In fact this morning it snapped and fell over. The top portion of the cactus still looks green and ok. I was wondering if I could save it, perhaps using some things I have laying around the house (haha)... vermiculate, peatmoss, cococoir, lime... I dont know what kind of soil these guys can go in but is there anything I can do?

well im no expert but i think you can cut of the good part, let the wound dry up and then plant it as a cutting...

youll want to plant it in something like 2:1:1 soil/sand/perlite.

Seems to me that the base is rotting. Cut the healthy part off like vertigo says and treat it as a cutting.
