mixing diff subtrates
    #5380622 - 03/09/06 09:47 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

afoaf has a bunch of unlabled colonized jars of rye. The problem is, half of them are Golden Teacher and the other half Penis Envy. When he cased them, he couldnt tell which was jar was what. So my question is, if he dumped one jar of GT into a loaf pan, and then dumped a PE jar right on top of it, what would happen? So basically, he has have a bottom layer of GT and a top layer of PE, which one will fruit? or will it be mixed fruits?

It takes two pint jars to put a real thick layer of substrate in these loaf pans. He has since then moved away from pint jars and bought a bunch of quart jars. One quart jar can fill up one of these small loaf pans.

i don't wanna seem like a dick but this topic is covered every day at least twice. you people have to use the search function.

the worse that will happen is the two strains will battle for nutrients. colonization will take a while place but fruiting may not. you might also get fruits of un unknown strain, could be pe could be golden teacher.

your friend should have been smarter and cased every jar on it's own.
