Internet: A Place to live your Alpha Male fantasy

Thats the appeal of the internet, everyone can be an alpha male. On the internet you can try to dominate others, and fight others when they disagree with you. And alot of people take this opportunity. Don't belive me, just look at these forums. Lots of people arguing, putting each other down, noone admits they are wrong or compromises. Still not convinced, how about internet gaming. Those guys get in brutal fights over nothing. Need more evidence: internet porn. What porn sells? Harcore stuff, alpha stuff. Guys with big dicks, bending over hot chicks. So, why are people dicks online? Just trying to be an alpha male when they can't be one in real life.

I guess that depends on if you dominate and fight online, and surf for internet porn.... There are a few other things on the web....
But, yes, it is a place where you can live out fantasies....

Internet imitates life in many aspects, by giving toy many things from which you can choose, so you might find any use for it, that including even creating yourself a new identity. I don't think everybody does it, because people use internet for different reasons, not only that, but yes, internet gives you this kind of approach too. Though it shouldn't be generalized.

For me its been a mediun that has allowed me to get my thoughts out. Its hard enough to be genuine in the real world to try to make a different identity and live up to it, not saying that it doesnt happen, just doesnt happen to me.

And you came to the conclusion that everyone is attempting to act out a fantasy of being the alpha male, attacking people for whatever?
Difference in opinion would have been my guess.
 Peace.

I agree with every thing people can live out the fantacy of picing on people the've had scince they got picked on in the third grade. I try to say as little as possible and I try to be informitive and opinionated as i've found it makes me happy. opinions are opinions and if mine bother you it's your fault cuz yours don't bother me.

Very true. I find the porn reference interesting, never thought about it that way.
However, I'm not sure how many people actually use the internet to redeem themselevs. Surley there are some, but for the most part I think most people on the internet are just people. It takes effort to lie and decieve, and unless you have a good reason for doing so, its not likely to happen.

Maybe it's a place for people to create those fantasies you speak of if they have a confidence problem in their real world, or have trouble expressing their thoughts through speech, so they try to create a fictional one. It's like in that Futurama episode where they go to the internet, and it's all life-like. They go in some chatroom and it's a bunch of nerds talking about 'chicks', and how that message board is a sausage fest. Then when Lila appears they all shy away.
In real life, aside some weird moments, I do tend to carry myself pretty well, and dont have much of an issue expressing what I feel, even though this isnt even my native language. But spending several years on message boards (this is not my first one by a stretch) has helped me make my vocabulary richer and my speech smoother. I can search any conversation I've had with any of you for as long as I've been here, post links to products with the exact description of the product, with a million other advantages. I just view the 'net as a very conscice way to exchange thought and information.
People argue here because this place is purely on intellectual ground, you cant intimidate someone into agreeing with you like you could in the real world, so the biggest consequence in losing an argument ... is that you lost that argument. Period.

Hrm, alpha male fantasies eh?
In real life and in the internet both, I am a passive accepting person, and I feel just as wrong to do / say things on the internet as I do in real life, I guess I'm not much the arguing / fighting type most all the time in the first place, but for the most part there isn't an inverse relationship with who I am on the internet vs. who I am if you were talking to me in person. Perhaps it might be easier to talk and that in turn gives me a little more confidence, but in general, I am me whereever I go and howeever I communicate, and I hope it would be like that for almost everyone, and if it's not.. then well.. that's too bad.
BTW, I haven't been on these forums in the longest times, don't post much often as it is, but it's good to see some of you are still lingering here, even though you guys dont know me much at all =]

Glad ya'll liked my theory. But I wasn't talking about people in the more....smarter forums, more in the Drug forum and on other message boards with more dicks.
Also I saw the Flaming Lips live...it was amazing!
