I don't know why everyone is giving these guys such a hard time. Practically EVERY vendor I've been to on here sells things for more than I can find them elsewhere, or more than the cost of making it myself.
They have to make some sort of profit guys....What would be the point of being in business if you have to sell everything at cost? It's not easy to compete with large companies.
You are paying in part for the labor put into some of the "hand made" products, as well as the luxury of having a "one stop shop".
Shopping around and finding the best price is up to you....I don't think these guys are trying to screw anyone over....If you don't like the prices go elsewhere.
Having good, reliable, vendors in general is a luxury in my opinion, and I wouldn't really mind throwing in a few extra bux to them....even if I can find it cheaper elsewhere.
I love hippiechick, and think she is a sweetheart...as well as being very knowledgeable in cultivating...as well as having a great ass ....but for her to leave, and go and delete all of her posts with the reason: "The Shroomery is a sellout"...is rather childish...and harsh.
If you care about the shroomerites hippie, you should have at least left your information available to them if you were going to leave. By deleting your posts, you only hurt them.

Double and almost triple prices are a bit too much if you ask me.

Well, that's fine....that is something they are going to have to work out in the long run based on their sales.
I just think it's a little unfair that these guys are getting singled out, when a lot of other vendors do similar things. As they said, they are still working things out on the site....give the guys a chance before jumping down their throats.

They are only double and triple prices on a few items, a lot of mycoshacks stuff is cheaper than any other vendor.
I wont mention their name but a shroomery sponsor on here is selling a inccubator kit, it comes with 2 tubs, a fish tank heater, and a thermometer they are selling it for 149.99!!!!!!!
Mycoshack offers a similar kit for 49.99 so whats the problem here? Should we start doing this to every vendor? NO, they all have overpriced things because their sources arent cheap on certain items,
So stop dogging mycoshack, he said he was going to find another source and fix the problem, so let the man work, if he is as reliable and trustworthy as he says then we will see the price drop soon.,

Thank you - I couldn't have put it better myself.
And, our prices aren't that bad; yes the Temp/Humidity Gauges were too expensive, but as I've already stated we were paying too much for them! Problem will be fixed! As for everything else, I think they're quite reasonable. As already stated we didn't want to start a price war here, so we actually raised the price on some things a very small amount. C'mon, we have the cheapest culture prices I have seen anywhere!
And, for that bit about wanting to spread the knowledge, I'm sorry that you don't believe me! I don't know what else I can say about it, but I've been here a while and been helped quite a bit by people - so I am trying to return the favor by offering a one-stop shop, and by offering some of the best customer service/help out there. Don't get me wrong, the vendors here are absolutely amazing - but there's no reason to single us out. Again, ASK ANYONE WHO HAS DEALT WITH US, WHETHER THEY BOUGHT SOMETHING OR NOT - WE ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS AND 0FFER ADVICE WHENEVER WE CAN!
Anyway, this thread is going nowhere....

I must say, as someone who used to grow mushrooms and hung out on the cultivation forums for a long time back in the day, I am seriously disappointed with this "sponsor", "vendor", "theif", whatever you want to call them.
To blatently say outright that "oh yeah its over retail, but thats the name of the game!"... (thats the name of the game if you're playing "extortion") is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. You guys should be completely ashamed of yourself.
If you have a problem with criticism, FIRST OFF, DONT COME TO THE SHROOMERY! its a community, with many people who tend to get pissed off when its obvious some jerk is trying to rip other shroomerites off.
Second off, if you can't deal with people complaining about your prices, DONT OPEN A BUSINESS! Its called free press, freedom of expression, and freedom to drop a dime to other people when someone is inflating their prices like a hot air baloon.
RETAIL, is RETAIL, its the highest price people are expected to pay by the manufacturer. You guys are worse than car dealerships that put 10% markups on vehicles!
It also becomes obvious you guys have no clue what you're doing and are probably buying all your products for retail which is why your prices are so high.
Stop crying about people complaining about your prices. Its part of owning a business. Stop asking for people to take it easy on you. Its a business. If you want to STOP people from tearing you a new hole, STOP ripping people off and appease the market by lowering your prics... If you can't do that, you can't expect to run a successful business.
Best of luck, looks like you need it.

MycoshackC said: In our defense, we're not doing it for the money
really? why exactly would someone get into the business then if it wasnt for the money
Well, a lot of reasons! Love of the community, desire to "spread the knowledge," etc.. Not everyone is money-hungry, ask anyone who has actually dealt with us......I spend 12-14 hours a day working/corresponding and I barely make a dime........why do I do it? Because I LOVE it!
look, I'm definitely not trying to flame you guys, or your Mycoshack, Shroomery needs vendors & there sponsorship fees.
But NO ONE sells anything, because they love it. Setting up websites, gathering equipment, and knowledge, all cost TIME & Money. And you should be reimbursed for your effort. But don't claim that you just love it. If that were the case, you would be a non-profit organization, and donate all the proceeds to the Online Mushroom Community.
I wouldn't expect that, and I doubt HC would either, but what I would expect is that your pictures match your descriptions. You guys at Mycoshack seem so set on defending yourself that you have alienated HC and possibly others. You admit that the wrong Hydrometers are in your pictures. HC was just trying to pointing that out IMHO. If the prices don't make sense to HC, and it should be obvious to anyone who know about those Taylor Hydrometers [HC says they shouldn't cost 1/2 that price] why keep asking her questions?
Im not trying to Flame Mycoshack, I doubt I'll ever order from them, but I already have reliable sponsors (Ralph you got next, cause you sent me a totally FREE AUS syringes about 10 months ago). I just think that Mycoshack could have ended all this very EARLY.
Had they just posted : I'm sorry that our pictures do NOT match our descriptions, We understand how this could be confusing to everyone, especially newbies who don't know much about this hobby. Thank you HippieChick for point out our discrepancies, and your diligence in fighting for newbies rights, who wouldn't know any better without you. Without your knowledge and willingness to help newcomers, with little benefit to yourself, none of us sponsors could survive in this community.
Instead you just used a blanket defense of 'were working on it' Kinda weak especially if we start losing knowledge because of this.

Yeah, agreed. That, and I think people are severely misunderstanding me! I never "cried" or anything about people complaining, I simply asked HC to back off a little! I have no problem with critisism, and yes - some of our products are over retail; deal with it, shit, don't buy it then!
As for why we're doing this, sure, we want to make some money. I honestly don't care if I make any money above paying off our expenses and having enough to live on, and I DON'T live lavishly..... I am sorry it's so hard to believe, but mycology is my life and I thoroughly enjoy doing it everyday. I guess I can't convince anyone why we're doing it, so PLEASE close this thread!!
