Ayahuasca...

Ok, so I've been reading up on Ayahuasca and DMT everywhere I can to learn as much as possible before I try it and I have a question or two. The first is how long the nausea and purging part of Ayahuasca lasts. I do not fear nor dislike the idea of having to go through this as I am approaching this as a spiritual experience but I'm curious as to whether or not this tends to last through the whole experience or how long it will last on average. I checked erowid and found nothing. Secondly, is it as dissasociative as smoking DMT? Will I be able to make it to a toilet to puke or should I plan on doing this outside where I can puke where ever? I'd love to hear from anyone with experience...thanks in advance.

My strong nausea (as in still actually puking, not just feeling sick) lasted for 1.5-2 hours. The experience is not nearly as strong as smoking or iv dmt. i was able to make it to the bathroom, but it was kinda scary and i def recommend a babysitter. personally, i would have felt much more comfortable outside. during the trip i was scared of puking or pissing on my bed (felt like i was about to piss myself the whole time).

I have almost always used syrian rue and viridis leaf tea. I have never experienced any puking or stomach discomfort from that mix, even with heroic doses.
I have puked after using a different maoi(caapi vine), but it really didnt make me sick for more than 45 min. Thats of coarse because it takes FAR more plant matter than when rue is used.
Its very different than smoked dmt, and neither really ever struck me as being very dissociative. But if I had to answer Id say aya is less dissociative.
Avoiding any nausea and purging is easy when you use rue and dont make one brew that is drank all at once. I eat or boil the rue and drink that over a long period of time(45 min-one hour tops). I eat small amounds of bread while eating or drinking that. Then about 10-20 min after the largest portion has been drank, I drink the dmt tea.

Yeah, I actually didn't know how it was pronounced until I saw a documentary on it... 'ayawaska' is what I've heard.
That documentary is what really brought on my great interest in it.

Thanks stemmer...that's good to know...while I wouldn't loath the fact that I'd have to puke for an hour or so, I'd rather not...

It differs from person to person. Some will find caapi easier to handle than rue. I know rue is tough on me.
But... if you're looking not to puke, avoid jurema.

Yeah I've seen that documentary too... British guy goes around and visits different Shaman and drinks it with them? Really interested me, but I'm still not sure if I'm strong enough to handle it, I guess I could always do just a little.

It lasts anywhere from 6 hour to 24 hours. For me, it will last a lifetime(30 hours of strong effects(very uncommon)). The fact that I have done massive doses of the more common and natural plants and fungi, and more than anything lsd gives some merit to the next statement. After 140 or so trips on different substances, ayahuasca was the end all be all. By FAR more intense than 1000 mics of acid, and for me it lasted FAR longer too. Its not a very predictable drug. Other people would have compared my dose to about 5 grams of shrooms. I have eaten 5 grams of shrooms and more, and it was nothing short of incredible. But ayauasca makes shrooms seem quite small. They are so very similare though, chemically and thus mentally. Maois are one hell of a drug by themselves. A year and a half later I still see visuals all day, every day. That is partly due to my past use of hallucinogens, but it still says something. It is not meant to be taken for a good time. There is a reason that the real lagit shamans say, and have always said that the best work done with this hallucinogen is in the months and years after the dose. I now understand why they say that. Ayahuasca is magical. If you have had alot of psychedelic experience, that might end up true for you. It changed my life in ways that are more simple, and in some ways that are so complex and hard to believe that I wont speak about it.
I did a two day long session(two big doses),.... that helped.
If your looking for visuals, a good dose of this brew might make you terrified of the potential "visuals" have. I just forgot about them as my audio/visual palettes fused with cognition. They became more intense than any other drug, and I made friends with them over some time.

to minimize/avoid nausea use a protein like jello [gelatin] to bind with and neutralize the tannins, a primary cause of the nausea. see Removing Tannins in Ayahuasca: always room for jello

cant help but think your setting yourself up for dissapointment. if its not the "life changing experience" your TRYING to get out of it, you will fool yourself into making it seem like it was.

Ayahuasca is a powerful brew. It is not for the faint of heart, it will show you things that you will perceive to be very scary. It's not something to toy around with. And I now only know that from research, but by experience as well .

I think it is strange that we both posted a thread about ayahuasca at the exact same time!
