How long will a field produce?
    #5378031 - 03/08/06 04:04 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

There is an old cow field right down the street from my house (by old, i mean that cows haven't been on it for a year), and I was wondering if there might still be some cubes growing on it this season. Thanks for the help!

I live on a subdivision from ex-farm, it hadn't been used for pastureland/livestock in many many years (some 10-15yrs).

I've been doing garden beds (spreading mulches/manures), and bingo, up popped a bunch of mushrooms - didn't know what they were at the time, but they seemed to come up anywhere that shade was present when it rained.

Someone told me mycellial networks can span square kilometres fruiting when they find some good nutrients to use, so yeah it's possible the field will sprout shrooms (if they are there), you just gotta give them something to eat

- Just my 2c, Disclaimer: I'm a shroom-newbie

If there were infact cubensis in that field at one time, then there should still be (maybe not at this time of year though). The dung that the spores were on should have decomposed into the earth/soil. There should still be a mix of mycellium/decomposed dung/soil underneath the ground. I'de say go take a look! However, it is a bit late in the season...
