Overlay? Help...

I've got a casing that's just dying to pin but there's so much damn overlay on top I don't think it will. To make a long story short, I didn't put a thick enough casing layer on, patched incorrectly, and ended up with this. Can I re-patch it or should I just continue letting it fruit as is? The casing was put into the FC on the 28th of Feb, in case that helps any.
Here's a link to the pics of this casing (Casing #2): http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5376851#Post5376851
Advice greatly appreciated; this is a pretty thick casing...I'd hate to see it go to waste .

Well honestly, just let it fruit. i can see in the pic how you incorrectly patched it.
another option is to recase the whole top and then propperly patch it as long as there are no hyphae knots present. you wouldn't want to cover the hyphae as that would reduce the overall flush.

Well the mycelium is so "fluffy" and rhizomorphic I can't really see any definite hyphal knots. Could you maybe point me to some good examples of what a hyphal knot looks like? It's my second grow and I haven't monitered the transition from knot to pin yet.

I don't see any overlay in those pictures. Leave it alone and wait for it to fruit. That looks like coir, so expect it to colonize fully. Don't confuse full colonization with overlay. RR

So it's okay for the whole casing layer to be colonized, just not to the point where it's stacked right?

When it's overlayed it will be thick and matted to the point where water can't be absorbed and puddles lay on the surface.

By the looks of that casing it should have been in the FC at least 6-7 days. Make sure the temps in the low 70's this will help to slow growth. It certainly does the coir circle breakouts thats common with coir casings but everything else aside it looks great to me as long as you've been fruiting it at least 7+ days so far. GL and keep her moist!

Yeah that's my challenge...I hate seeing water droplets on top of that myc. Reminds me of horror stories from past attempts when the myc got too wet and matted all up. Misting is still cool though right? Just not huge drops of water on top?

Yep! As long as pins are set that is. Coir is tricky and those that prefer it have either never tried peat or have not used a peat based casing properly, WORD!
