Different flours
    #537617 - 02/01/02 08:25 AM (22 years, 8 months ago)

I just bought some flour composed of five different "cereals" and a few nuts. I'm too lazy to translate them all in English for the moment (there is wheat, rice, rye and soja) but I'd like to know if there is an element shrooms don't like. Is it safe to grow shrooms from that kind of flour ? And will there be any difference of potency compared to BRF ?

It should be fine, i don't think the nuts will hurt it at all unless they are overly acitic, like walnuts, brazil nuts, etc. Even with walnuts it should grow fine, i'm not sure with brazil nuts, they can be pretty acidic

also potency should be about the same, if you've tried the PF Tek or MMGG Tek, I'd move on to some other Tek, i find that BRF etc. seem to contamonate easier than most substrates, but they are easier to care for. I suggest sporeworks rye seed Tek, it works great, esp. with panaeolus subbalteatus.
