I have always wanted to get into the hobby when I was just a little kid probably to young to be messing with that kind of expensive stuff anyways but now Im older can afford to get into it and probally have less of a chance of crashing my shit the first day. Most places I look say for a begginer to get an electric model first but I really want to go with a gas trainer. Anyone know anything?

I've flown one a very little bit and I don't really remember much. My friend was into it pretty big in college, he told me he'd of never learned on his own. He would of crashed and destroyed to much shit and probably given up, my advice is find someone to teach you the ropes.

I've seen my friends crash them before, but thats about it. "Don't fly when its windy" is the only useful info I can offer.

Definitley go for a gas one not electric, electric is wussy assed.
I had one when I was like 10 cause my mums partner was into them and had a few. It was a cheap kitset one but still cool. I flew it a few times then crashed it into a tree...the guy who gave me the plane fixrd it all up, rebuilt the body and stuff, then a couple of times later I went out to fly it and I flew it past the sun got blinded and crashed it again!! hahaha.
Also there are rules about where you are and aren't allowed to fly them.
I'd say your best bet would definitley be to go along to a meeting of your local RC plane club. They will be friendly, have a wealth of info, teach you to fly it abd probably even hook you up with a cheap 2nd hand plane.
