A couple weeks ago I got in a fight with my parents. My mother called my therapist made a big scene and then I was "willingly" committed to adjust my medication. They told me they were only going to keep me for a few days and they could get me a bed faster if they comitted me. So they shipped me off to abbotsford psych ward cuz mrh was full. 3 days passed and I spent all my time with and fell in love with this girl (stupidly I might add). Then in the middle of the day an ambulance came and they dragged me back to mrh, refused to let me say goodbye to my friends there, almost denied me a last smoke too. So anyway I get dragged back to mrh where I spent near 2 weeks in what is now like a minimum security prison for the mentally ill. Not allowed to leave, not allowed to have the proper nutrition for someone of my stature. Not allowed to turn on the tv before 4 oclock, not allowed to have a smoke after 11 pm, not allowed to leave for any reason. Anyway I eventually convinced them to release me. The conditions were no drugs of any kind must take their medication psychiatric probation fo SIX MONTHS. Psychiatrists can keep me as long as they want, they only have to LOOK at my case once a month. To get out of this I have to go before a review panel where I am not even allowed to talk. I have no criminal record, no history of violence, no real reason for them to keep me at all. Now if one of your "friends" or the cops think you are crazy you can be held without trial indefinitely. During this time the government refused and is still refusing to pay me my disability pension and they made me pay back $600 because my pay stubs came one day 2 late. $1500 in the hole because I fought with my parents (vocally).

Now If they had informed me of my rights. I would have run like hell for the American border. This disgusts me. I am such a danger to society with my perfect credit and no criminal record. Now what would happen to someone who DID have problems?

That sucks, there's gotta be ways you can deny them doing that to you, or are you under 18? If so then you're still under your parent's legal control and I guess they can ok such a thing to happen to you. I had a similar case when I was younger, but I never got locked up anywhere, just a drive around in the back of a cop car while mr police tried to crush me with his threatening words... kinda silly.
